I have just watched a DVD of a film I really enjoyed ... 'The Painted Veil' is set in pre-war China and is a very realistic love story. It is stunning and the acting is ace.
I would be interested in what others thought of it.
I have also just viewed 'The Jane Austen Book Club' which I have mixed feelings about but I did enjoy it.
How anybody who doesn't know the Austen books would get anything out of it I don't know.

For the dreadful romantics out there I just watched 'No Reservations' ... It is not a great film but it is very well made Hollywood style and is a nice Sunday afternoon with cake and coffee movie.
A feel good film for people who like a happy ending.

As everyone seen La Vie en Rose ?
It is the most remarkable film I have seen for a long time .... other recent French films have been very disappointing.
Two Days in Paris was sort of OK but as I hated the leading man it didn't do much for me.
Apres Vous should have been wonderful ... great cast but it failed to deliver. It started out being very funny and then became a farce and just sort of drifted off at the end. Far too far-fetched for me !!!
